Feeding Outreach

Community Meals

The Waughtown community of Winston Salem is a food desert and has one of the highest child hunger rates in the nation. To combat this, we serve a meal to the community every Monday night. On a typical night, we serve about 130 people a hot, nutritious meal. Most of our guests have had long, exhausting days so we don’t make them wait in a long line to be fed. We have them sit at tables and we serve them restaurant-style. During the meal, we have music playing (sometimes by a live orchestra!) and we do all we can to help them know that they are loved and important. Since beginning this important outreach we have served almost 20,000 meals.

Volunteers assemble bag meals to be given out in the community.

Bag Meals

Each week through our bag meal ministry we give out hundreds of bag meals to help those throughout our city who are hungry. To date, we have given away over 50,000 meals. During the holiday, we make special meal bags with enough food to last several days since many kids are not able to get free school meals during this time.

Summer Lunch Program

In the summer of 2018, we partnered with the Winston Salem Forsyth County Schools to provide lunches for kids in our community who had nothing to eat. Each weekday a food truck gave out nutritious meals to all those who were in need.

Get Involved

To feed as many people as we do takes a tremendous effort from a lot of people. We’re always looking for people to help cook and serve meals, as well as donations of supplies and money.
