Homeless Shelter Volunteers

To run a ministry like this, we need lots of volunteers. Below you will find some information about the different areas where we need volunteers each night.

Check In (1 volunteer per night)

Each night we need people to check in our guests. Check-in volunteers welcome each guest as they come in and guide them as appropriate. This is a great chance to volunteer for those who can’t spend the night. These volunteers serve from 6:45-9:30 p.m.

Guest Assistance (2 volunteers per night)

Guest Assistance volunteers will assist the guests during the check-in process, assist with the meal service, assist with the clothing closet, and a variety of other activities as needed. This position is from 6:45 – 9:30 each night.

Overnight (1 or more volunteers per night)

Each night we also need volunteers who spend the night.  These people stay from 6:45 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.  They also help with check in and serving dinner when needed.  This position makes sure everyone is safe while they are staying throughout the night.  Once everyone is settled, it’s a great chance to get work done, read, etc. Overnight volunteers are able to get a few hours sleep per night.

Meal Preparation

We serve our guests a warm meal each night. We need a meal that will feed about 30 people, which will feed all our guests and volunteers for the night.

Past volunteers have told us that volunteering at the homeless shelter is one of the greatest things they’ve ever done.
